Tour Info · The Experience

Wild days in the hides. Warm nights by the lake.

Mid-October brings ever-shorter days, so we shift our pattern to shoot throughout the day and make the most of the beautiful low autumnal light. Both the hides and basecamp sit in some of the wildest, most remote corners of Northern Europe — where only wildlife call the land home.

01

Shoot through the golden hours

Short autumn days keep the light low and beautiful — we work with it instead of racing it.

02

Your own wilderness cabin

The lakeside basecamp is yours exclusively — sauna, lakeside hot tub, grill house and campfire.

03

Home-cooked every evening

Hearty meals and fresh-baked desserts, warm from the oven, after each session in the field.

04

Aurora over the boreal skyline

When conditions align, the northern lights dance above camp — no crowds, no light pollution.

Good to Know

Questions, answered.

Are sightings guaranteed? +

No — this is genuine wild photography and animals are never guaranteed. That said, Kuhmo offers some of the best odds anywhere in Europe for bear, wolf and wolverine, and our guides know these hides intimately.

What experience level is this for? +

Everyone from keen amateurs to professionals. You'll get hands-on guidance in the field, and the hides are set up to make strong images achievable whatever kit you bring.

What's included in the £3,495 price? +

Exclusive lodge accommodation, all meals at the lodge, all hide sessions and expert guiding. International flights and travel insurance are arranged separately — we'll advise. A £300 deposit secures your place.

Can I come as a solo traveller? +

Absolutely. It's a sociable small-group trip with a friendly atmosphere at the lodge. We can also arrange fully tailor-made departures for private groups.

How remote is it? +

Very — the basecamp and hides sit in some of the wildest corners of Northern Europe, where only wildlife live. That isolation is exactly what makes the photography, and the aurora, so special.
